Tony Sanders is a lifelong Chattanooga resident and has spent most of his life in the field hunting or fishing with the love of bird hunting instilled by trips afield with his dad.
On April 21, 2007 Tony Sanders Outdoors hit the airwaves on Talk Radio 102.3. The show was billed as an “electronic campfire” where hunters and fishers could call and share their stories about the outdoors. Airing every Saturday from 5-7:00 AM, the show has become a Saturday morning staple for hunters and fishermen with Tony and his Co-host Rob Prytula, the Trout Professor.
In 2010 Tony was named Tennessee Wildlife Foundation’s Conservation Communicator of the Year and the Tennessee Friends of NRA Volunteer of the Year. He is a member of the South Eastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA) and the Tennessee Outdoor Writers Association (TOWA).
Besides the outdoor radio show, Tony is involved in many activities related to the outdoors. He serves as a volunteer on board or committees for Chattanooga Area Friends of the NRA, Tennessee Valley SCI (Safari Club International) Chapter, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited as well as being a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He also is a NRA Recruiter and spends a great deal of time in the shooting community.
Tony, his co-host Rob, and the Tony Sanders Outdoors show are constantly recognized by various groups for their efforts in promoting the outdoor and firearm lifestyle. The show is a positive spin in an environment of negativity related to what we love. Their tag line states their purpose: The fusion of outdoor information, education and entertainment.
